For an AP scapula, the goal is simple: move the scapula away from the ribs. Some techs abduct the arm out to the side, others place the back of the hand on the forehead. Both are correct — they just achieve the same goal in different ways. On the Y view, arm placement varies too. Hand on the belly or arm across the chest — both work.
